UGC NET June 2026 Notification: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the UGC NET June 2026 Session on 29th April 2026 for ‘Junior Research Fellowship’ (JRF), ‘Assistant Professor’, and Ph.D. admission across 85 subjects in Indian universities and colleges. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their online applications starting from 29th April 2026 through the official examination portal.

UGC NET June 2026 Notification: Eligibility & Age Limit

CriteriaRequirements
Educational QualificationMaster’s Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories). Final year PG students are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit (JRF)Maximum 30 Years as of 01.06.2026. (5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/PwD).
Age Limit (Asst. Professor)No Upper Age Limit.
PhD AdmissionBased on JRF/NET scores as per latest UGC guidelines.

Exam Pattern

The UGC NET examination is conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of two papers:

  • Paper 1: 50 Questions (100 Marks) – Teaching/Research Aptitude.
  • Paper 2: 100 Questions (200 Marks) – Subject-specific.
  • Duration: 3 Hours (180 Minutes) without any break.

How to Apply for UGC NET June 2026

  1. Visit the official NTA portal at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
  2. Click on the “UGC NET June 2026 Registration” link on the homepage.
  3. Complete the registration by providing your Name, Mobile Number, and Email ID.
  4. Log in using the generated Application Number and Password.
  5. Fill out the application form with personal, educational, and subject details.
  6. Upload scanned copies of your recent Photograph and Signature in the prescribed format.
  7. Pay the application fee online using UPI, Net Banking, or Debit/Credit Card.
  8. Submit the form and download the Confirmation Page for future reference.

Yes, candidates who are in the final year of their Master’s degree or are awaiting results can apply provisionally. However, they must complete their degree with the required percentage within two years of the NET result declaration. +1

No, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the UGC NET exam.
